Tony Wheeler was born in England in 1946 but spent most of his younger years overseas. He returned to England to do an engineering degree, worked for a short time as an automotive engineer, then went back to university and completed an MBA at London Business School.

In 1973 Mr and Mrs Wheeler published Across Asia on the cheap, which was the first Lonely Planet guidebook. Today there are over 500 Lonely Planet titles. Over the past 30 years, Tony has researched and written Lonely Planet travel guides, diving guides and walking guides.

In 2007 Lonely Planet was acquired by BBC. Lonely Planet portal for travellers has an audience of 4.3m unique visitors, and has launched lonely planet.tv a community site allowing travellers to share videos of the places they have visited.


Mr. Bernardo Hernandez is worldwide marketing director of Google Maps and Google Earth since September 2007. Prior to that, he held the position of country product marketing manager in Google’s office in Madrid, Spain for two years.

Considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in Internet in Spain, he founded Idealista.com, the leading Real Estate portal in Spain, where he worked for 5 years. Currently, he is partner and active investor of Floresfrescas.com, 11870.com, tuenti.com and Bonsai Venture Capital and he is a member of the Board of Directors of Fundación Desarrollo Sostenido.
