Business Plan Competition 2010

The Annual Business Plan Competition finals will take place at London Business School during the Entrepreneurship Conference on May, 7th 2010.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

ROUND ONE – Friday April 2nd, 2010

To register, teams must submit their a completed business plan of no more than twenty one pages (PDF or doc, size 10 font minimum) in total at http://younoodle.com/groups/lbs/ .

Please name your file as ‘Name of the team_Bplan’. The submission must include:

  • A three page executive summary consisting of:
    • 2 page business plan
    • 1 page biographies
  • Disclosure of the level of funding received so far, if any, from any sources (Angel investors, VCs)

The full submission should consider the following points:

  • Key financial assumptions
  • Financial forecasts: start up to cash breakeven – monthly
  • Competitive Analysis and Barriers to entry
  • Founders biographies

All teams will be notified of the status by Monday, April 26th 2010 and no more than 5 teams will be asked to participate in the Final Round of the competition.

ROUND TWO (final round) – Friday, 7th May 2010

Teams successful at Round One will be provided with feedback from the Judging Committee regarding their business plans and will be the finalists of the competition. As finalists you will be required to:

  • Make a 5 minute presentation of your business plan, giving a brief overview of your idea to a live audience of around 200 people at the London Entrepreneurship Conference
  • The winner of the competition will be announced at the London Business School Entrepreneurship Conference


ELIGIBILITY

The London Business School Business Plan Competition is open to all participants that meet the following criteria:

  • The business plan prepared for the competition must be a realistic and marketable idea, which is of a quality that could be presented to potential investors.
  • The plan must be an original idea or a substantial improvement on an existing business model.
  • On entering the competition, the submitted business plan must not be in violation of any intellectual property rights.
  • The plan cannot be part of an existing business (or subsidiary thereof) that has been in existence for more than 3 years.
  • The business plan must be for a company that is expected to be head-quartered in the UK.
  • The team is restricted to a team size of four.

These criteria will be strictly enforced and any business plan that fails to meet one or more of these will be immediately disqualified from the competition. For any queries, please contact the Business Plan Contacts listed at the end of the document.

PRIZES

The winning teams will receive prizes in cash and services in-kind.

The distribution of this prize amongst the finalists will be decided by the Judging Committee. As the competition aims to promote and support the development of entrepreneurial businesses, the prizes will be awarded to those teams that the Judging Committee believes are established businesses, which without limitation may include the establishment of a corporate entity to carry out the business plan.

The Judging Committee reserves the right NOT to make an award or change the award amounts if the quality of entries is not deemed sufficient.
